Sani Calls On President Buhari To Ban The Use Of Hijab

Anthony Sani, the former national publicity secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to put a ban on the use of hijab by young girls.
According to The Punch, Sani noted that young girls were being used by Boko Haram as emissaries to carry out bomb attacks in the north east. He said the ban on veils will make it impossible for the girls to hide explosives.

He said: “But given the fact that hard power of military cannot eradicate terrorism, and given that small girls use veils to cloak the explosives with which they blow themselves and some others up, as well as the fact that God has put religion for the benefit of man and not for Himself (God), I would suggest Mr. President should ban small girls from using hijab until Boko Haram has been defeated completely.”
He added that Nigeria needed a good structure and system in order to develop and not strong men.

“It is difficult to say at this time that President Buhari is exhibiting dictatorial tendencies in a democratic setting that is under the checks and balances of the legislature. I believe President Buhari knows that the problem of one-man show is not that it does not succeed, but because such strong men driven by force of personality are rare.”
Sani also said President Buhari has been operating within the realms of democracy contrary to the perception of some that the president was authoritative and dictatorial.
Meanwhile, The group said the ban on hijab would not bring a lasting solution to insurgency in the region.
