President Muhammadu Buhari has shocked those clamouring for the disintegration of Nigeria, saying that the unity of Nigeria remained sacrosanct. Buhari made this comment Monday morning via a nationwide broadcast. The President warned that his government would not condone elements beating war drum. There was trouble in the Assemblies of God Church, Mount Street, Agbani-Road in Enugu State yesterday, Sunday, September 11. Former commissioner of police, Delta state, Ikechukwu Aduba, has condemned the recent release of 128 suspected Boko Haram members by the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buaratai. Aduba, who described the release as the “height of illegality,” said it was a fundamental breach of the constitution, Vanguard reports. According to him, the suspects should have been handed over the police, who were the foremost internal security agency. “ After screening, the case file ought to be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution to determine their culpability before release. Usurpation of police function is sending a wrong signal ,” he said. As the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari ministers continue , some appointees have reportedly failed to pass anti-corruption test. The Department of State Service (DSS) recently received a much awaited list of 36 ministerial nominees for security screening. While DSS carries on the screening indications appeared that three immediate past governors, Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi and Kayode Fayemi, have supposedly failed. Three former governors worked hard for Buhari’s presidential campaign to and were seen as top candidates for positions in the government. Hameed Ali introduces new methods of work at the customs office, making corrupt officials feel very uncomfortable. Hameed Ibrahim Ali told corrupt Customs Service officials will be jailed. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) looks set to dock more ex-governors who have questionable records in line President Muhammadu Buhari’s quest to recover the country’s stolen monies. This follows rigorous grilling already dished out to ex-governors like Martin Elechi, former governor  of Ebonyi state and Sullivan Chime, former governor of Enugu state. On the heels of alleged laundering of state funds, three ex-governors may also been in EFCC’s watch list. Dr Fredrick Fasehun, founder of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), has expressed doubts over the possibility of President Muhammadu Buhari recovering looted funds stashed in other countries.
